Dr. Ramanlal P. Patel is one of the last living exponents of a generation of homeopaths which soon will have ceased to exist. Among his teachers were personal disciples of Kent, such as Sir John Weir and Arthur Grimmer, the two discoverers of carcinosin Foubister and Templeton, and legends like Otto Leeser, Pierre Schmidt, or Elizabeth Wright-Hubbard. Having practiced as a physician for 50 years, he is rooted in this school, while commanding a formidable experience. Yet his initiation to homeopathy has taken place twice, since he had fallen sick himself, developing a fibrosarcoma that forced him to undergo several surgical operations between 1960 and 1964 and which finally metastasized to the lungs in 1966. He consulted hospitals in Japan, the United Kingdom, and the US, but every physician he met would confirm that conventional medicine didn’t offer any hope of recovery. However, he was saved by Hahnemann’s close study of chronical diseases and his conception of miasms. “The mere fact of being still alive is something I owe to nothing else but homeopathy, and this is why I wish to give back to homeopathy as much as I can”, he uses to say. Even without this episode in the story of his life, we get the feel of his truly extraordinary personality. Quite understandably, as a practitionner he is primarily concerned with severe and critical conditions and, as a response to his personal experience, especially with cancer patients. Indian homeopaths enjoy much freedom in exercising their art, since every patient has to pay himself for any treatment and many cannot afford an expensive chemotherapy.
Dr. Anton Rohrer

“In 50 years of my homeopathic carreer I have travelled eight times around the world, meeting hundreds of homeopaths at seminars, conferences, and congresses, yet in the whole world I found only a handful of homeopaths following Hahnemann’s successful miasm theory. The complete remainder of those I would call the ‘average homeopaths’,of those who practice a general homeopathy, do miss the goal of healing chronic miasms.”

In his eighties already, Dr. Patel has become a living lengend. He has climbed the ladder in homoeopathy, setting out as a student of homeopathy in Calcutta and London, and later hospital director and publisher to have been on the scientific advisory board of the Indian Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH), the Indian government Planning Commission’s Panel of Health, and many more to state. His comprehensive work includes classics, such as the completely revised and enlarged version of Kent´s Repertory of the Homeopathic Materia Medica (grown in more than 40 years work), the large Word Index with Rubrics of Kent´s Repertory, the Art of Case Taking and Practical Repertorization, Ailments and Complaints: Before, during and after in homeopathy, as well as many other works. Currently Patel is working on his life’s magnum opus on Homeopathic Cancer Therapy.
His relentless work has only been gaining constant momentum. He opened up the crux of the 6th edition of the Organon, by bringing forth the 50 millesimal potency. And yet, he has remained a learner forever, always diligently taking down notes from whoever it be, a senior practitioner, a junior practitioner or even a beginner.
In a nutshell, one can study Homoeopathy anywhere, but one can feel, one can palpate homoeopathy, with Dr. R.P. Patel.
